Type 73 Stats & Apex — MW4 Patch 1.0 / Oct 2026 Meta — LMG · unlocks at 9 · 65 levels to the Apex
The Type 73 is a lmg running 821 RPM and 60-round magazine. It opens at player level 9 and needs 65 weapon levels before its Apex Attachment comes into play, the Type 73 Assault. Inside the lmg class it is the 2nd to unlock out of 3, and its level track is the 1st longest of 3.
We do not run in-game tests. Values come from official statements cross-checked against community sources: This page publishes only the values that appear in the official progression table: class, slot, unlock level, max weapon level, fire rate, magazine size and the Apex Attachment. Per-slot attachment builds and damage readouts are not published for this weapon, so they are omitted rather than estimated. Method and limitations: /about.
Type 73 Stats — MW4
| Weapon Class | LMG · Primary |
|---|---|
| Player Unlock Level | 9 Lv [OFFICIAL] |
| Max Weapon Level | 65 Lv [OFFICIAL] |
| Fire Rate | 821 RPM [OFFICIAL] |
| Magazine | 60 RDS [OFFICIAL] |
We publish no TTK figure for any MW4 weapon. Activision does not release TTK values, the public estimates disagree with each other, and we do not run in-game measurements — so the row is omitted rather than filled with a number we cannot stand behind.
Where the Type 73 Sits Among LMGs
Every number below is computed from the same table the rest of this site uses, so you can check it against the full weapon list rather than taking a ranking on faith. There are 3 weapons in the LMG class.
- Player unlock order
- 2nd of 3
- Later than FiNN LMG (4)
- Max weapon level
- 65
- 1st longest track in the class (class high: 65 on the Type 73)
- Fire rate
- 821 RPM
- 1st of 3
- Magazine
- 60 rounds
- 2nd of 3
Rank is not a verdict. A weapon that loses on fire rate can still be the right pick if its recoil pattern suits you, and this table deliberately stops at the figures that are published rather than inventing a composite score — a made-up score is how a lot of weapon tier lists end up disagreeing with the game.
Best Type 73 Loadout — FAQ
Q1 What player level unlocks the Type 73? +
Level 9. That makes it the 2nd of 3 LMGs to open, behind FiNN LMG (4). Create-a-Class itself unlocks at level 4, so nothing on this page is reachable before that.
Q2 How many weapon levels does the Type 73 need to max? +
65. Within LMGs that is the 1st longest track — the longest in the class, with Type 73 tied at 65. You only need the last level for the Apex Attachment; everything before it is attachments and camos.
Q3 What is the Type 73's Apex Attachment? +
Type 73 Assault — Belt-to-magazine lightweight rifle conversion. It unlocks at weapon level 65, does not consume a Gunsmith slot, and changes how the weapon behaves rather than nudging a stat. Type 73 Assault is exclusive to this weapon: no other gun has it.
Q4 How does the Type 73 rate against other LMGs? +
At 821 RPM it is 1st of 3 on fire rate, and 2nd of 3 on magazine size at 60 rounds. Those are the two figures the official tables actually publish, which is why we rank on them and not on damage or TTK — Activision does not release a per-weapon damage table, and we do not measure in game.
Q5 Which weapons unlock at the same player level as the Type 73? +
The Type 73 is the only weapon that unlocks at player level 9, so there is no bundle to plan around here.
Q6 How many camos does the Type 73 have? +
15 in the weapon layer: 8 Military camos from weapon level, 3 Special camos from per-weapon challenges, and 4 Completionist stages (Gold, Platinum, Harmonic Break, Divergence). Progress is shared between Multiplayer and DMZ, and Warzone joins the same track in Season 1.
Q7 Is the Type 73 progress shared across modes? +
Yes. Weapon levels, attachments and camo progress are one track that fills from Multiplayer and DMZ alike; Warzone joins it in Season 1. The only thing that splits by mode is the mastery camo tier, which sits above Divergence and has a separate set for each mode.
Q8 Is the Type 73 one of the Vault Edition signature weapons? +
No. The Type 73 is part of the standard launch arsenal, so it is unlocked through player level 9 like any other weapon and needs no edition or purchase.
Available from player level 9, finished at weapon level 65. If the Type 73 Assault is what you are after, that is the number to plan around — everything before it is attachments and camos.
